Delicious Matar Paneer Curry Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams paneer (cubed)
  • 1 cup green peas (matar)
  • 1 large onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 large tomato (finely chopped)
  • 1–2 green chilies (chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 cup fresh cream (optional, for richness)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves (chopped)

Optional Garnishes:

  • A drizzle of fresh cream
  • Lemon wedges
  • Fresh coriander leaves (chopped)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Peas: Boil the green peas in a little water until tender. Drain and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Masala: Heat oil and butter in a large pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and allow them to splutter. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Add Aromatics: Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for 2 minutes. Then add chopped tomatoes and cook until soft and oil starts separating.
  4. Add Spices: Add turmeric, red chili powder, coriander powder, and garam masala. Mix well and cook for a minute.
  5. Add Paneer and Peas: Gently add the cubed paneer and cooked peas. Mix carefully so the paneer absorbs the flavors. Cook for 5–7 minutes.
  6. Adjust Consistency: Add water if required to adjust the curry’s thickness. Simmer for 10–15 minutes for the flavors to blend.
  7. Finish: Stir in fresh cream (optional) and lemon juice. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

Serving:

Serve hot with steamed rice, roti, or naan. Garnish with fresh cream, lemon wedges, and coriander leaves for a delightful finish.
